Davy Crockett

(1786-1836) American frontiersman, folk hero, politician, and soldier. He represented Tennessee for three terms as a U.S. congressman. As a soldier, he fought in the War of 1812 and died at the Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. His reputation as a frontiersman elevated him to folk legend status during his political career. He is one of the most celebrated and mythologized figures in American history.
